To try and help you look after your swimming pool and keep the water quality as good as possible, here’s a simple checklist which covers the key things you need to do.

This list only covers basic pool maintenance and does not include proper checking of all equipment.

PH: 7.2 – 7.6

Chlorine: 1 – 3 ppm (parts per million)

Alkalinity: 90 – 150

Hardness: 180 – 360

Cyanuric Acid: 40 – 60 ppm (no more than 80 ppm) 

Daily
  • Check pH and chlorine levels and adjust as required
Weekly
  • Check and balance the pH, alkalinity and chlorine levels
  • Check and empty pump filter basket
  • Check poolside skimmer baskets and empty
  • Backwash the filter
  • Add a flocculent tablet
  • Check pool and manually vac or put automatic pool cleaner in for its set work period. Remember to remove it!
Monthly
  • Shock the pool (if not done bi monthly)
  • Top up algaecide to take account of evaporation and fresh water makeup
